Ontario’s Transformation of Developmental Services: An Introduction

Loading video ...

In 2004, the Government of Ontario began to look at how it could improve services for people with developmental disabilities. It listened to people with disabilities, their families, and with service providers and other members of the community.

Based on these consultations, the Ontario Government created a new law. This law will help make sure that quality services and supports are offered to people in their own communities.

This new law is called The Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act. It states who can receive services and supports, and how they can apply for services. It helps make sure that services and supports are of high quality - and that people have more flexibility in what they can choose.
